Jeff Bezos: a short biography
Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur and businessman, best known as the founder and former CEO of Amazon. He was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 as an online bookstore. Over time it grew into one of the largest and most influential retail platforms in the world, selling a huge range of products and services, from electronics, clothing and books to digital content, cloud services and much more.
Bezos played a key role in turning Amazon into a global giant and a leader in e-commerce and technology. Over the years he pushed the business into new areas, for example by creating the Kindle e-reader and building Amazon Web Services (cloud services).

Childhood

Jeff Bezos married MacKenzie Tuttle in 1993. The two met while working at the hedge fund D. E. Shaw & Co. During their marriage they had four children: three sons, including Preston, and a daughter adopted from China. In January 2019, Jeff and MacKenzie announced their divorce after 25 years of marriage. It was finalized later that year. As part of the settlement, MacKenzie received a significant share of Jeff Bezos’s Amazon stock, which made her one of the richest women in the world.
