Innovative processes and improving the activities within a company are essential factors for providing a more effective and more efficient service for customers. As a matter of fact, in-house optimization can not only improve customer service, but it can also significantly reduce expenses, save time, improve coordination between workers and provide an opportunity for offering additional services, which increases a company’s added value. On the other hand, such changes can turn out to be quite expensive and complex, difficult to integrate and adapt to, and thus can lead to unsatisfying results. If a certain change does not add value to your company, then it is an obsolete one. So, before making a decision to optimize your organization’s activity, make sure that such an alteration is truly needed and will eventually add value to your business.
In the summer of 2014, my company (Venera Cosmetics) went through an optimization by changing the stock software in order to better integrate all of the firm’s processes. In result, all stock and logistic operations improved, as the online store introduced advanced functionality. While the previously used software was created more than 10 years ago, specifically for Venera Cosmetics, the alterations in our company’s focus as well as the new, improved and easier to use solutions on the market demanded for a drastic internal change. If a certain change does not add value to your company, then it is an obsolete one.An additional, but essential factor was its incapability of integration with our online store – fragrances.bg. Because of this, processing our stock data was done manually, leading to a lot of errors. A small e-trader wouldn’t mind such an inconvenience, but a company like Venera Cosmetics that has more than 3000 products in its database and aims to deliver orders on the very next day, must take immediate actions, so that it can remain a top customer choice.
The optimization process was neither easy, nor quick, let alone perfect. It took us 3 months to fully integrate the new stock software into our business. Apart from that, it wasn’t inexpensive at all, since costs included not only purchasing the software, but also ordering new hardware. However, I dare to say this change was extremely important for us, because it improved our in-house processes and gave us spare time to use for creating new methods for improving productivity and service efficiency.
If you want to know more about how the online store’s services got better thanks to our new software integration, you should check out the article on our corporate blog. You should know that such publications are essential for the corporate image since they inform the customers of changes and improved services.
